Die Münchner Galerie U 108 trotzt den Widrigkeiten, der sich die Kultur - vor verordneter Klausur und endenwollender Solidarität - gegenübersieht. So öffnet sich der Treffpunkt salonistischen und geisterfrischenden Austausches in einer subtil polyglotten „Online-Exhibition“. Geht in den virtuellen Raum. Äußert sich in achtundzwanzig Perspektiven. Weltverzerrend. Realitätszynisch. Absurditätswach. Tiefenphilosophisch. Licht im Künstlerzimmer. Kennt Sperrstunden nicht. Eine Einladung zur Begeisterung. Zur Erschütterung. Zu gefühlter Nachhaltigkeit. In lebendiger Kongenialität. Und dazwischen das Echo gegen eine drohende lautlose, entgeisterte Welt.

ASTRONOM entstand als Bildidee, nachdem ich von Ulrich Tarlatt zu Beginn des Jahres zur Teilnahme an einem neuen Künstlerbuch aufgefordert wurde. Ich arbeite gerne für Eigeninitiativen von Künstlern und Selbstverlage. 
– Es entstanden verschiedene Skizze und Studien mit einer Figur, die durch ein kompliziertes Fernglas schaut. Für das Buch entstand dann ein dreifarbiger Siebdruck, aber dies hier ist die grösste und ausgearbeitete Version des Themas. Der Blick ins Weltall ist ein Blick in die Vergangenheit, die aber erst jetzt sichtbar wird. Astronomie versucht wie alle Wissenschaft, ein zukünftig besseres Verständnis zu erreichen, wirkt aber auch auf unser gegenwärtiges Selbstverständnis zurück, sie verbindet das Verständnis von Vergangenheit - Gegenwart - Zukunft.

Celestographs comes from latin cælestis something related to the sky, heaven or cosmos. In Strindberg essay Chance in Artistic Creation, in French Du Hasard Dans la Production Artistique, the author describes how he believes that art should „ imitate nature’s way of creation“. Influenced by this idea, I decided to create new celestographs - trying to imitate nature´s way of creation -, but translating this idea into the big bang depiction.

Xiaoer Liu is a Chinese multi-national artist based in Berlin. She has an unique ability to create distortion in the midst of clarity through her paintings, photography, sketches, sound and performance art. Her work dissects issues of identity, desire, sexuality, perception and autonomy. A central question of her work is: How can personal freedom lead to political freedom?Since her early youth she has been driven by the wish to express herself freely, for example when she as an adolescent was experimenting with different hair styles what you might rarely see in China. Feelings of being trapped, for example the loneliness she experienced in her apartment in Beijing, resulted in a series of photos and paintings. That's when she started to use her own body both as an object and as a subject. For her the female body isn't only abject, but also a source of autonomy. The eye is one of the most important elements in her work. Eyes are watching the spectator. In her film and video works she explores the concept of 'female gaze'. She turns the viewer into a voyeur, for example in the film Ying Mao when she depicts the intimate shaving of a (fe)male sex in black-white closeups. In her series of Tape performances and videos she explores the bound female body and its attempts to break free. Her way of working can be described as poetic madness. It's a raw, sometimes messy process of non-stop creation which also includes selfies for Instagram, poetic thoughts posted on Facebook and playing with colors on analogue and digital video. Her work ranges from 'psychological graffiti' to more complex, multilayered art works.

Geboren 1992 in Berlin, studierte an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe sowie an der Universität der Künste UDK in Berlin, wo sie 2018 zur Meisterschülerin ernannt wurde. Sie arbeitet als freie Künstlerin in den Genres Malerei, Zeichnung, Fotografie, Film und Installation. Zuletzt zeigte sie Malereien im KIT Düsseldorf und war als Koproduzentin an einem internationalen Kunstprojekt in Italien beteiligt. Lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.

What I like about the wind Is that you can’t see it . Only it’s effects. It is truly social in the sense that it only appears in interaction with the other. There is no wind, where there is no other. I also like about it that it comes from somewhere and goes somewhere. It conveys hope.
The wind touches you more often than people. It embraces You, reaches around you , gently. All around. Not like the rain that just falls on you, thrown from somewhere. The wind takes you in its arm and reminds you of your place  in the universe.....Even as a storm.
